Bawnmore is a musical school. Music and song play important roles in everyday teaching and learning in the school.

All types of music are celebrated in Bawnmore but Traditional Irish music holds a special place in the heart of the school. We are very lucky to have support from a number of music teachers who give lessons at the school. All pupils from First Class up are given tin whistle lessons. Over the years, demand has led to lessons in accordion, concertina, banjo, mandolin, fiddle and harp being arranged at the school. These lessons are delivered by accomplished musicians from local music groups including the Lackagh Comhaltas which has been very supportive of musical development in Bawnmore National School.

Through the musical instrument rental scheme, pupils are given the chance to try a new instrument before deciding if they would like to invest in an instrument of their own.
